Who are we?

We are a cooperative made up of small producers dedicated to the breeding and management of Andean camelids from Peru; that seeks to improve the quality of life of its members, through the articulation of productive development at the primary level, the addition of value and the establishment of links with various markets, offering quality products in a sustainable way.
We care about the environment and animal welfare, so our fiber comes from animals that do not prey on the environment and are not mistreated .
We are an organization with high social responsibility towards our partners, our collaborators and the community in general.
Our partners come from the regions of Arequipa, Apurimac, Ayacucho and Cusco, who founded COOPECAN PERU in January 2008.

Code of ethics

The Code of Ethics which governs our decision-making is the following:

  • Cordial relationship between workers and a responsible attitude towards our clients and suppliers.
  • Respect for human dignity, the environment, the State and partners.
  • Compliance with the norms, uses and customs of the peasant communities that are part of the organization, respecting their ancestral traditions.
  • Care and protection of the environment, minimizing the negative impact of our activities. Respect for animal welfare.

Our Partners

Small producers that come from four high Andean regions of Peru and live above 3 500 m.a.s.l. These producers have an average of 150 alpacas in extensions of land of approximately 100 ha. (80% of which are considered uncultivated lands), a population that is found in quintile 5 of the poverty map of Peru, that is, they are the poorest and most vulnerable sector in the country, but thanks to their great entrepreneurial capacity, today They give added value to their fiber, which reaches the international market directly, in a very competitive way.
They are owners of a rich ancestral culture, ranging from their Quechua language, to their customs and traditions of good environmental conservation practices such as planting and harvesting water, which have a manifestation in artistic expressions such as the water festival, worship of nature (land, water, mountains, etc).
